Vista environment

I need to detect if a system is running Vista. But I'm using
XP.

Can anyone tell me what the environment property is on Vista?

thanks

Vista environment
If you already use Buddy API, this from the bugwatch page:

baVersion( ''os'' ) now returns ''WinVista'' on Vista.

Vista environment
Yeah, I tried buddy api, and it returns ''WinXP''.

so i tried the environment and it returns on the #osVersion:

''Windows'',6,0,148,2,''

(I sent a small projector file to my customer that displays
baVersion (''os'')

and the environment. They sent me a screendump for me to
examin.

- It looks like a Vista message window to me.)

on my xp system it returns ''WinXP''

and the environment is: ''Windows XP,5,1,1,148,2,Service Pack
2''

What could be the problem?

Do projectors made on XP run properly on Vista?

I'm not sure what you're referring to as a problem - perhaps
the

mis-reporting by BudAPI of Vista as XP? Did you use the
latest version

of the xtra (3.76)?

Windows Vista does NOT support Director apps. (no directX
support) Depending on what functions you are using with your
projector, it won't work at all but if your projectors are simple
and don't require directX they may work but will be slow.

Don't ask how I know. There is more information about this in
the 3D forum.
The problem was that vista was not detected. It returned
WinXP.

The cause: I updated the buddyAPI in the xtras' folder of
Director but not

in the xtra's folder of the project...

So after i did that, the app detected WinVista as it should.
