MySQL connection

Hi everybody



I'm new to dreamweaver and by studying the macromedia
ufficial course book I got stuck with creating a database
connection with PHP/MySQL. I'm working on a windows XP worstation,
I have PHP 5.2.1 running on an Apache 2.2.4 server and I'm using
dreamweaver MX8.



I'm working with PHP files and I'm trying to make a
connection between my php defined site and an existing database,
stored in MySQL directory, using the dreamweaver database
connection dialog box (applications).



The site on itself works perfectly, anyway as soon as I fill
in the dialog box all the information (Server MySQL, username,
password and database file) and press the test button, after a
while of performing the database connection test the program
displays an error saying: an unspected error has occur.



I tried fixing things by applying all the options in the help
topics of this site, of the MySQL site and PHP site, but still I
receive an error message saying: an undefined error has occurred.



Can you please help me go on learning?

As I said I tried already all the various options I found in
the above sites but nothing helped me.



If you have any idea on how to make things work please help
me. Consider though that I'm new to this program so please be as
detailed as possible.
