I am sure this has been asked and answered, but I just cant
find it here.
Trying to make Flash work well...
I am taking an RGB image (bitmap), a photo with a green tree,
blue sky and clouds and have knocked out the tree sky and clouds to
separate layers (I use coral's knockout for many years). All in PS
Now I have 3 separate great (transparent) layers.
What I need to do is make the clouds move behind the tree
against the sky.
I want to animate the image in Flash and use it in a web
page.
Each layer is then taken to Image Ready to apply the settings
for flash and the web.
Then to Flash to animate.
When I finish with flash, it plays with a WHITE HALO around
the tree and white halos around the moving clouds.
When I use all 3 layers in Final Cut pro and create a
QuickTime movie it is perfect (The PS Gods are good to me in FCP).
Here's a link to the QT movie.

Flash using the same image and layers is not.
Is it Just the limitations of flash and/or the web not as
smart as FCP or After Effects..
Any help is appreciated.PSD to Flash Transparancy Halo
What format are you using between Image Ready and flash? Gif
is not good, and that is probably your problem. Make sure you
output the images as transparent PNG files and the halo will go
away.PSD to Flash Transparancy Halo
Thank you for your fast responce...
I've tried evrything but PNG as I'm really not fomilur with
that format.
Are there any special settings you'd suggest?
Thanks

The difference is that a gif only supports 1 level of
transparency, where a pixel is transparent or it isn't. With a PNG
file there are levels of transparency, where a pixel can be 50%
transparent for example. This makes for better fades and cleaner
images, plus PNG is losless compression. There is nothing to
creating a PNG file, just go to photoshop and do a
''Save-as''.
Thank you so much ... It worked just as I wanted it work ..
Now I'm impressed with flash.
Great help , it worked GREAT.
Now for the cs3 upgrade.
To bad they arn't including Fireworks with the Design Premium
upgrade.
If importing PNGs impresses you - you will be happy for a
long time :)

I am impressed and am really new to Flash. I am a film and
print design person, so you've opened up a new area for me.
Anytime I've looked at Flash it didn't seem as if it was
capable of any higher end work. I remember a program way back
called Macromedia ''Action'' (a toy), and that's what Flash had
reminded me of. I think that's where Flash came from, but I could
be wrong.
So when I ran up against this issue, It reinforced my view of
it ... that's changed.
Anyway,
Thanks
Flash was originally called ''Future Splash''. Never ''Action''
(never heard of that actually).
Maybe you are thinking of ''Director''?
Anyway - to see the latest and greates flash work and its
capabilities:
