answer. We are encoding mp3's vbr types at 128 kb 44.1 samples
using lame 3.97 for our Streaming Media Server provider. They do
not know why (or are not talking) the server will hang every so
often and will not pick up and stream any new files provided beyond
a given point int time. it requires a restart of the system to
right itself again and obviously is not optimal.
The only info I have gotten so far is to a potential problem
that has to do with time frame boundary(ies).
In short I have torn through a myriad of websites and support
forums while waiting (ever so patiently) for our provider to give
me something I can troubleshoot and/or id the problem. I have seen
a lot of cbr vs. vbr gto flash versions settings and they all seem
to be a bit dated. All of our mp3s prior to encoding are at a
minimal 128 kb stereo 44.1 so that is our lowest base to work from
which, is our target for streaming.
compounding we process 1k+ mp3's a day and they all stream
fine with a couple of hanging exceptions that are hand picked out
and reprocessed accordingly.
so after all of that. does anyone have any up-to-date info on
proper encoding settings with the lame engine for streaming mp3
files?
thanks for your patience,
ken;
