My oh my. Been printing from Freehand MX to a color Epson
3000 printer for years with no problems. Just replaced the 3000
with a new 3800 and every time I send a Freehand file to it the
document and the application crash....however, the file spools and
prints successfully dispite the crash. I've had no problems
printing from any other program (PSD, Illus, PDF). Help!!!!

I just heard from a friend who is having the identical
problem. I thought I'd come here to see if I could find info to
help her. I am sad to see no one has had any suggestions yet! I
will check back in if I find any solutions out there...

What is your platform and OS?
If you're on Mac OSX, make your new printer the default
printer in Printer
Setup Utility. Then, in FHMX, go to Page Setup and format for
that printer.
Print. Do you still get the crash?

The protocol you suggested did not help. Boo Hoo.

I did have a similar intermittent problem with other models
of Epson
printers and earlier versions of OS X. Sometimes restarting
the computer
cleared it up.
The only other thing I can suggest is that you repair disk
permissions. Use
Disk Utility in your Applications/Utilities folder.

I've tried it all...restarting, repairing permissions, disk
warrior, re-install the epson driver, re-install Freehand. Nothing
worked.
as a workaround, I have been able to print to PDF from my
Freehand file and then print the PDF to the epson. The color is
very close and no crash from Acrobat. My last try is to update my
Freehand to 11.0.2 (from my 11.0 version) Who knows...maybe it will
help. Thanks for your info!
